Beach pavilion de Vrijheit

The Heemskerk beach… a beautiful beach located on the North Holland Dune Reserve, where Highlanders, sheep and horses graze the dune area. There, where you can only get to by bike or on foot…

An amazingly beautiful nature reserve for anyone who wants to enjoy the peace and beauty of the forests, dunes, the sea and the beach. On this unique beach, close to the shipwreck 'de Vrijheit', you will find beach pavilion 'de Vrijheit'.

“Beachcombers had the time of their lives when in 1903 shoes, pieces of fabric, bacon and spools of thread washed up on the beach. Cargo ship 'de Vrijheit' had run aground on a sandbank in a storm. The boat broke in two, lost its cargo and sank. The boiler house is still visible, rising above the waves.”

Isolated from civilization, we provide a casual atmosphere where you can enjoy fresh coffee, delicious sandwiches, a cold beer and a varied menu.
