Haarlem

Haarlem is known for its rich culinary life. The city has the most cafés and restaurants in the Netherlands after Maastricht. From trendy coffee bars and excellent lunchrooms to cozy cocktail locations and special restaurants.

In the virtually car-free, historic city center you will find numerous exclusive shops, boutiques with fashionable clothes, charming antique and curio shops and countless specialty shops for all imaginable things. The major shopping streets also contain the most important (inter) national shopping chains. This enormous diversity has earned Haarlem the title of "Best Shopping City of the Netherlands" several times. The shops are also open on Sundays.
Haarlem is also known for its rich culinary offer. The city is second only to Maastricht in the Netherlands in terms of number of cafés and restaurants. Here you will find a wide and varied range: trendy coffee bars and excellent lunchrooms, cozy pubs and exceptional restaurants, from simple to exclusive.
The stages in Haarlem - the Haarlem City Theater, the Philharmonic, the Toneelschuur (theater and cinema) and the pop music hall Patronaat - offer a high-quality theater, dance, film and music program. Haarlem is proud that it has a house with its own productions, the "Toneelschuur Producties". The Philharmonie is the Haarlem Concert Hall, and the intimate theater hall of the Stadttheater provides a wonderful ambience for a night out.
