The balance between camping and nature Sustainability on Geversduin
Innovative, headstrong and always with a love for people and the environment. This mix has brought Geversduin a lot of beautiful moments, and we will continue in that line. Curious? We are happy to tell you more about it and also have some tips on how you can help!
Europe's first holiday homes made from recycled plastic One to be proud of!
The Plastic Houses at camping Geverduin are unique accommodations. They're the first cabins in Europe which are built with plastic waste, coming from the beach of Castricum. Sustainable materials have been used inside, such as recycled plastic for inventary, PET bottles for curtains, reused wood for kitchen cabinets, 'ocean bound plastic' for dining chairs, leather scraps for the sofa and beds made of 100% recyclable cardboard.
We have laid a path of olivine sand on the campsite that captures CO2.
Olivine is a rock that reacts with CO2. One kilo of olivine removes one kilo of CO2 from the air. And you're able to help! The more you walk on the path, the faster it cleans up CO2.
Deliciously honest
Restaurant Knoest is all about reuse, reduce and recycle. Sustainability is everywhere: industrial recycled materials, lots of greenery and a striking moss wall for a cozy atmosphere. Fun fact: our tables are made from local trees fallen during a storm!
Local products
Under the same roof as Knoest Eten en Drinken is our Minimarket located. Here you can shop carefully selected artisanal and organic regional products.
Natural playground
At the campsite we reuse as much as possible. Pruning waste? We make benches, bike racks and playground equipment from it!
Bats easily find their way... Dark nights
Our solar-powered lantern paths, which provide orientation lighting only, allow you to find your camping spot without disturbing nature with light pollution.
Sustainability is in our DNA at Geversduin, and we are happy to share that with you!
Reuse and recycle
The artificial grass football field at the Eikenbos is made of recycled PET bottles. It's low-maintenance and has given plastic a new life. In all new initiatives we try to work circularly with sustainable materials.
Hand in hand with nature Green energy
All our permanent roofs are literaly green or capture solar energy. For example, you will find solar panels on all sanitary buildings and the building on the central square. And if you look closely, you will see sedum roofs on the reception and the forest theater. These green roofs contain various succulents, but also grasses and herbs. They insulate, purify the air, increase biodiversity, capture rainwater and increase the yield of solar panels. Super handy, those little plants!
